At it again!

Time has slipped away from me this week. I had every intention of running more last week and it didn't go over very well. I am still proud of myself though for doing two runs though. That is better then I was doing. Let's see how this week goes!

I started out today very tired. I think I am getting a cold because I am all stuffed up and I woke up with a horrible headache. I also made myself get out of bed even though I think I could have slept a few more hours. I had already gotten 9 hours of sleep too. Either way, I was determined to go out running today.
I left my house at about 11:40am. It was actually pretty cool outside compared to what it has been. There was a good breeze too, so I didn't get too hot. I knew today I would go for the 2.5 mile stretch. I wanted to see how far I could run, but I couldn't make it very long at one time. I would run a couple blocks then walk a couple and then run again. Overall though, I ran a total of 1.06 miles. I thought that was pretty good. It was better then my last run for sure!

Remember how I said I wouldn't eat right before a run anymore. Well that didn't work. I ate poptarts about 15 minutes before I went out. However I don't think it really affected me much. I think I just need to watch what I eat before I run and it might be better.

I also said I would get comfortable clothing, boy does that make a difference! I picked up a pair of running capris. I couldn't find a pair of shorts I liked so I went with the capris. I love them. They are super comfy and I didn't have to keep adjusting them when I was running. I think the only problem is that they show your underwear line, but I can live with that. They are super cute too! I stuck to my wick shirt I have been using. I like it. I find myself pulling the sleeves up as I go though, so I wounder if I could get a tank top that would be suitable. I will have to go out looking.

Lastly, I said I needed to stretch longer. That is so true. I actually forgot to stretch today before I left. I could tell a difference. My legs were not as relaxed and seemed to hurt more during this run. I felt pain in both of my legs on the upper half - front and back. (I should probably learn the muscles huh!) I stretched them when I got home, but I can still feel the pain a little bit. I also got this sharp pain in my back today while running. It only lasted about 2 minutes but it was kind of weird. Lastly, I got a side ache. I got it towards the end when I was walking. I think I stopped concentrating on my breathing and that probably was what the issue was.

I had a few other issues to deal with during this run. First off, since I was stuffy I couldn't breath through my nose much. It seemed to be harder to concentrate on breathing and I had a few issues. Especially since I kept couching up junk. I also had a horrible headache to start that just got worse as I went. I need to figure out what is causing me to get headaches when I run, so maybe I can prevent them. Lastly, I had issues with my ears. They started to hurt as well. I think they got cold and irritated from my headphones. The  headphones I use are ones that stick in your ears. I think that they kind of hurt at times, but other ones I use that go over your head hurt more because of my sunglasses. I should probably pick up something different to use. (Man this is starting to become an expensive hobby) I also think maybe if I had ones that covered my ears more they wouldn't get too cold and hurt. Or I am going to have to start wearing a hat when I run, even though it is 80 degrees out.

So overall I went for 2.5 miles and ran a total of 1.06 miles. I did it all in 37 minutes which is my best time so far. (even though it is only the second time I did this distance, at least I am improving) I think I did good today. Now I just need to keep it up!! Until next time!
